Report – Mountains on Stage Winter Edition 2016
38 shows, 35 cities, protagonists present throughout Europe in front of nearly 30,000 spectators!
For this first edition of Mountains on Stage in the UK, thanks to the public for their warm welcome in London, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh!

"The Warmth of Winter" launched the show. The quality of Japanese powder is legendary amongst skiers, and it has the reputation of being the world’s best snow. The light and the snow sculptures gave the place a mystical feel. Add Sylvan Esso’s mesmerizing music on top of that and you get the perfect film to get in the mood for winter!

Then, the public was transported in Pakistan by the second film, "Link Sar", with incredible images of Jon Griffith's many attempts on a still virgin summit: the Link Sar. This Englishman installed in Chamonix is both a renowned photographer and an experienced mountaineer who has made us discover a magnificent mountain despite scary conditions!

To finish this first part of the show, public admired the steep slopes of the Alps being skied by Jérémie Heitz. A completely crazy project, carried by a young Swiss prodigy, vice-world freeride champion: bringing his fast “freeride” style into steep skiing’s historical lines, like the north face of Ober Gabelhorn or the Gervasutti couloir of Mont-Blanc. Fasten your seatbelts, he is not easy to follow!
Guido Perrini, the film director, André Anzévui, the precursor of steep kiing, Samuel Anthamatten and Jérémie were present on many dates of the tour to tell us about this film and their future projects.

After mountaineering and steep skiing, the public discovered dog sled race! This film captures the inspiring comeback story of Lance Mackey in the world’s hardest sleddog race: the Iditarod. Raised in the shadow of his father and struggling with various substance abuse, Lance finds his salvation in the great wide open of Alaska. “The Great Alone” received the “Audience Award” for this Winter Edition 2016!
We were lucky to see on stage mushers of the equivalent race in France “La Grande Odyssée” and Isabelle Travadon, musher with Lance Mackey on the Iditarod. It was a fascinating exchange with the public.
